About Abacus Express Logistics

Company background and history:

Abacus was formed by Nick Oliver in 1989 to provide drivers and vehicles for the major UK Carriers based locally. This required reliable, experienced multi-drop drivers at short notice to cover holidays and sickness as well as days when the carriers delivery count was unexpectedly high. Abacus then began to offer a driver only service for the same customers, providing cover for the night trunkers that required HGV drivers often at short notice.

Abacus then instigated a same day delivery service, providing dedicated vehicles to anywhere in the UK at any time. This is used by customers that need goods delivered safely even though they may be fragile or have awkward shapes and sizes. The service is also used for goods that need immediate delivery for a variety of reasons.

Mainly due to the popularity of e-Bay, Abacus now offers a next-day delivery service for the general public. We collect from the customers home, premises or place of work for delivery within 24 hours at affordable prices.

Key people at Abacus:

Nick Oliver - Nick formed the company in 1989 and looks after day-to-day operations and accounts. In his spare time Nick enjoys country walks with his wife and two children and can often be seen on the Sussex Downs at weekends.

Phil Garroch - Phil joined Abacus in 2009 after many years in the logistics industry. He also looks after day-to-day operations and handles communications with existing customers, ensuring that they are always satisfied with the level of service we provide. He also enjoys country walks with his wife. His family is grown up and he now has four grandchildren to enjoy.

 Our Fleet:

Our fleet of vehicles ranges from small vans to 7.5 tonne lorries, enabling us to transport a wide range of goods. The fleet includes Citroen Nemos, Vauxhall Corsas, Ford kas, Ford Transit Connects, both short and long wheel base Ford Transits, Mercedes Sprinters, as well as a variety of 7.5 tonne trucks and trailers.
