A customer required some leaflets printed at short notice. This was not a problem until a breakdown on one of our machines caused a three hour delay. Abacus were called in and set off to our customers offices in The City of London. They were an hour and a half into the journey when we received a call from our customer. The leaflets had to be taken by our customers sales manager to Chile and she was booked on a flight from Heathrow that night. This meant driving to her home address in Kensington. Abacus re-routed the driver and kept us informed of his progress. The goods were delivered before she left for Heathrow and the flight was met.

We had one of our engineers on site in Southampton. He called us one morning to inform us that he required a specific tool  to enable him to continue with his task. We had the tool at our premises but could not spare anyone to take it to him. Abacus arrived within 15 minutes of calling them and delivered the tool directly to him in less than 2 hours. This allowed him to finish his work that day.

I had some important documents to be delivered to a client staying at The Gatwick Hilton. The problem was he was checking out at 11.00 am in order to catch a flight, but the paperwork could not be completed until 10.00 am. Abacus arrived at my office promptly and met my client at the Hotel Reception. The driver called me direct to assure me that the documents had been handed over safely.

We required a ladder to be collected from East London and delivered to Gatwick for international despatch. Abacus sent a 4 metre van as requested but the ladder was 1 metre longer than expected and would not fit. There was now a problem meeting the connection deadline. Abacus provided the solution by despatching a second vehicle with a trailer. The ladder was delivered to Gatwick on time.

We were demonstrating our latest 3-D Film Technology at a major function in Bristol on a Saturday morning. It was only when we set up our equipment on the Friday evening that we realised we have not brought the box containing the 3-D glasses - obviously essential to the experience! We called Abacus at 5.00pm on Friday and they immediately sent a van to our HQ to collect the goods. Upon arrival at the hotel in Bristol the Abacus driver made contact with our representative and the demonstration was a success.

We required some extremely fragile goods to be delivered into Central London by 9.00am the next day. Abacus collected the evening before, supplying blankets and bubblewrap for protection. The vehicle was parked at their secure premises overnight and despatched first thing in the morning. The goods were delivered at 8.00am in perfect condition.

We needed to send some samples of external hard landscaping materials to a Borough Council based in Maidenhed for approval. The goods had to be there by 14:00 but there was a last minute problem and the driver had to wait for nearly one hour. There was obvious concern about making the deadline. Abacus vehicles are fitted with tracking devices and they kept us informed of the driver's progress. The goods arrived with 15 minutes to spare.

We were contacted at 15:00 on a Friday afternoon by an important customer who required a metal fencing panel to be delivered to Greenford, Middlesex at 8:00am on Saturday morning. Unfortunately we could not get the panel ready until 17:00 on Friday afternoon and it was over 6m long. We called Abacus and they solved the problem immediately by sending a 7.5 tonne truck to us on Friday afternoon. They kept the loaded vehicle at their secure premises overnight and delivered on time the next morning.
